10. Be versatile, if you only prepare to cast surface lures and the fish are not showing on the surface then you will not be able to catch fish. Be prepared to fish deeper in the water column.
9. You go out and don’t see any birds, now you have to use your sonar to locate fish. If you locate fish deeper, then you catch them off the bottom.
8. Bring live bait, as it is hard to beat live bait. On days when the bite is tough, having some live bait with you can be the difference maker!
7. Pay attention to tide and current charts and try to fish moving water.
6. Go out at sunrise and sunset when fish are most active.
5. Locate the bait!
4. Don’t sit in a spot for too long if there are no fish.
3. Don’t go blasting from spot to spot, you will spend all day driving and not fishing.
2. Have your rods rigged up and ready to go before you leave the dock.
1. It’s okay if you get skunked. If you were able to learn something such as a new spot or new technique then it was a good day!
